The paintings in this exhibition represent two different perspectives. The first is a series of aerial seascapes that were inspired by a helicopter trip over Macquarie Island. I was enthralled by the remoteness of this place, the endless ocean that surrounds it and the sense of awe it evoked in me. 

The second is more immediate seascapes taken at sea level and represent the journey to Macquarie Island. In these works, I wanted to reflect on the joy and freshness of being there. 

In both cases, I aim to reflect on my emotional response to the wilderness of the ocean, for me, not a foreboding or lonely place but rather a space to dream and feel alive.
